While Jessi is off living the dream in La La Land, we’re here missing her like crazy. But our girl has taken a moment from her Hollywood life to share her favourite LA spots with you. Yeah, you.
JESSI’S FAV…
PLACES TO SHOP NEW

Abbott Kinney:
“Located in the heart of Venice Beach, this street of one-of-a-kind shops, restaurants, boutiques and cafes is one of my favorite places to shop, walk or just plain lurk. Also a great spot to find some of LA’s best food trucks. Because eating while shopping makes everything better.”
Opening Ceremony:
“The LA store is located in Charlie Chaplin’s old dance studio so even if you can’t afford to shop for stunning pieces by Rodarte, Alexander Wang or Tsumori Chisato at least you can turn your visit into a tourist destination…”
PLACES TO SHOP VINTAGE

Wasteland:
“I have been Vintage shopping at this Melrose staple since I was 15 years old… but really, my parents wanted to take me to Disneyland, I wanted to go to Wasteland. Now there are locations all over LA so if you see one, go, but I guarantee you wont leave empty handed.”
Melrose Trading Post:
“This outdoor flea market happens every Sunday and has just as many vintage clothes as it does super good looking people wearing vintage clothes. Both equally fun to look at.”
Rosebowl Flea Market:
“This is the MECCA of all flea markets. It only happens once a month but sweet lord is it worth the wait. With antiques and clothing and jewelry for as far as the eye can see, it can be overwhelming, but bring water and a fanny pack and be prepared to hunt. Yes, I said fanny pack.”
HAIR SALON

“I am so picky when it comes to my hair, I haven’t found anyone here that I trust! It’s LA and I’m just not ready to walk out with mangy bleach-blonde extensions. SO, whenever I am back in Toronto I always make an appointment to see Kristopher at Civello in Rosedale… he’s been doing my ginger mane for years and I just cant handle the prospect of breaking up with him.”
PLACES TO EAT

“One of my favorite things to do in life is eat, so this is an easy one:”
Pizzeria Mozza:
“Mario Batalli teamed with Labrea Bakery’s Nancy Silverton to create Pizza that will make you want to cry it’s so good.
Make reservations and expect to see famous people… or at least me, crying in the corner.”
Palms Thai:
“The food is not nearly as good as the THAI ELVIS IMPERSONATOR who performs nightly at 7pm while you eat. Need I say more?!”
Jones:
“This New York feeling Italian bar/restaurant in West Hollywood has no windows, so you can order all the pizza and pasta and wine and dessert you want and no one will ever know. Not that I’ve ever done that… They play rock n roll, the crowd is young and like most LA restaurants, the wait staff is ridiculously good looking.”
Yatai:
“If you were en route to trendy restaurant ‘Ketchup’ to have a Hills moment, stop! and cross the street over to Yatai, a small Japanese tapas spot hidden away on Sunset Blvd. Great prices, delicious food and fewer dudes in Graphic T’s.”
PLACES TO GRAB A DRINK DURING THE WEEK

El Compadre:
“Technically it’s a restaurant, but if I order just Margaritas and only eat the free tortilla chips, it counts as a bar, right? With a full-time mariachi band and signature Flaming (yes, ON FIRE) Margaritas, this place is packed every day of the week.”
The Parlor:
“Holly Montag first took me to this bar for Karaoke Wednesday, but if you were hoping to sing a half-drunk version of Mariah Carey’s Fantasy, you will immediately think twice. This is the spot where semi-professional, aka really good singers, come to show off/get discovered/make regular people feel bad. Highly entertaining.”
PLACES TO GO OUT ON THE WEEKENDS

“I wish I could tell you that I spend my Friday and Saturday nights grinding the night away at Les Deux, Voyeur, or Colony Nightclubs, but I don’t, I just don’t have the time to wipe the douche off.
Instead, I usually head to more low-key spots, where the dress code doesn’t involve showing vagina…”
Eveleigh:
“The bar only serves ‘pre-prohabition’ era drinks. Sounds pretentious, tastes delicious.”
The Village Idiot:
“One time I saw Alexander Skaarsgard there, for that reason alone, I keep going back.”
The Otheroom:
“A Venice beach bar filled with Venice beach guys- tanned, scruffy, buff, surfers… I’m sorry, what was the question?”
PLACES TO GO FOR BRUNCH

BLD:
“Prepare to wait for a table on weekends, then prepare your stomach to explode with deliciousness.”
Toast:
“I know, I know, this place got more action on The Hills than Audrina, but what can I say? The food is great, and every girl needs a go-to spot to pick at a salad and talk about how much they hate other girls, right?”
DATE SPOT

Farmers Market at The Grove:
“When Zac Efron finally asks me out, I’m going to take him to this adorable LA landmark. There are all kinds of different food stands and fresh produce and live bands and there is no way the date will end without us feeding each other some kind of chocolate covered nut.”
COFFEE SHOP

Intelligensia:
“I guarantee everyone at this coffee shop will be cooler, edgier and more attractive than you, but the coffee is so good its worth the crushing blow to the self-esteem.”
NAIL SALON
“My house. I guarantee you I have more nail polish than any salon… plus, I am way too cheap to get my nails done.”
PLACE TO STAY
“My house. According to every friend and family member and friend of friend or distant family member who has come to LA over the past few months, I am a SPECTACULAR hostess.”
PLACES TO SPEND A SATURDAY/SUNDAY

Venice Canals:
“These are LA’s best kept secret. Down by Venice Beach there is a whole neighborhood of stunning homes built right on a series of beautiful Canals… You can usually find me wandering down the canals, creepily staring into people’s homes while plotting how I can get rich enough to buy one.”
Hollywood Farmers Market:
“On Sunday mornings, they clear away the vomit and the panties from the Hollywood club district the night before and put up a HUGE farmers market with live bands, fresh fruits, pastries, cheeses and vegetables. Every time I go, I resolve to live a healthier, more organic lifestyle…then I go home and eat pizza.”
