TOPSHOP Opens First Canadian Store, Knows How to Celebrate, Impresses All, and Brings Us The Kills & Friendly Fires.

Well, folks, the time has come. We’ve been buzzing since… well… June about our anticipation for Topshop’s Canadian landing. And yesterday, after no shortage of celebratory festivities, our favourite British cheap(ish)-chic clothier opened it’s doors at Yorkdale Shopping Center in Toronto. Let this be a lesson on how to party in true, fashionable fashion:

JUNE

After The Hudson Bay Company’s announcement of Topshop’s coming to Canada, we got our first taste at the Topshop Summer Takeover Pop-Up Shop. Remember?

AUGUST-SEPTEMBER

Weeks pass and now it’s August. Insert Topshop previews, parties & pop-up capsules in Toronto, Vancouver & Calgary.

OCTOBER

Now it’s time to party. So, how do you celebrate Topshop style? Well…

1. Tuesday night – throw a swanky dinner boasting a guest list that includes Sir Philip Green, Bonnie Brooks, Coco Rocha, Alison Mosshart, Jamie Hince & a whole slew of Toronto’s who’s who. Lobster, steak & wine ’till you bust.

2. Whisk your guests down to The Hoxton in black SUVs to sip cocktails while watching The Kills perform especially for the selected, stylish crowd. Just an average Tuesday night, right?

3. No time for hangovers, Wednesday morning and it’s time to open shop. What better way to open the first Canadian Topshop, than with Canadian supermodel Coco Rocha to cut the rope, Sarah Taylor to announce, and Sir Philip Green to supervise? No better way.

4. You thought that was it? No, no. 6pm rolls around, and it’s time for Brit band Friendly Fires to play a free show right in the massive Yorkdale store – which, if you’re familiar, is modelled after Topshop’s even more massive Oxford Circus store.
