A Dirty Girl’s Guide To Clean Hair

When you’re unintentionally following the wet hair trend that was made so popular at Alexander Wang SS12, you know you’ve got a little problem on your hands. Unlike oily skin, where you can pop a couple blotting papers for a quick shine-free face, oily hair is a little harder to fix. Luckily, we found some great products and home remedies that can fix and prevent your hair from getting greasy. Clean hair, clean mind.

IMMEDIATE FIXER-UPPERS:

When you’re late and don’t have time to shower but your hair is not looking its best (maybe it was a late night out or a late night staying up), some fast fixer-uppers include mists, sprays, and dry shampoo. Take your pick!

SPRAYS:

Ojon Full Detox Rub-Out Dry Cleansing Spray, $13

Kevin Murphy FRESH.HAIR Dry Cleaning Spray, $25

DRY SHAMPOOS:

LUSH Vanilla Puff Dusting Powder, $9.95

Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Shampoo To-Go, $11

Klorane Gentle Dry Shampoo, $18

PREVENTATIVE:

Only use about a quarter-size of shampoo, rinse twice, and use conditioner on the ends of your hair, avoiding the scalp.

SHAMPOOS & CONDITIONERS:

Aveda Scalp Benefits Balancing Shampoo, $14

Aveda Scalp Benefits Balancing Conditioner, $14

Aveda Rosemary Mint Shampoo, $10.50

Aveda Rosemary Mint Conditioner, $10.50

Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo, $5.49

HOME REMEDIES:

BABY POWDER:

ACIDIC RINSE:

= Juice of 2 lemons + 1 quart of distilled water when you wash your hair

CREATE YOUR OWN SHAMPOO:

1 cup of your regular shampoo + a tsp of Aloe Vera gel + 1 tbsp of lemon juice, mix together, wash hair, and rinse thoroughly. (Can be stored in the fridge; usually last a week and should be used every day)
