I’ve been yearning for spring not only for the bright brights and fresh-everything-fashions, but because it’s a new season for some of my finest accessories – the headphones.
A commuter’s delight, headphones and ear buds are really the best of friends. When it comes to jostling with your subway neighbour or tuning out when playing frogger while on your way to wherever, the way music transmits into my ears on a daily basis is so incredibly key.
So! With that said, how about some of the most marvelous of music accessories that I’ve found as of late, all placed on a chopping block?
1. Urban Ears:
Yup, you’ve seen them around in all of their minimalistic glory. They’re a simplistic take on the overdone and over the top counter parts. They’re solid shades that use textures and key features to differentiate themselves. From the wrapped cords (so they look like shoe laces) to their foldable bodies, they’re a sporty pick that ooze sophistication in the details. Built in mic for your hands free chatter, and an extra socket for sharing your music with your friends. My only beef – it took years to open the beautifully matte box.
Who knew mustard looked so good on ears?

2. Reveal Bamboo Headphones:
Bamboo manages to provide an ultra rich and smooth sound. Though seemingly delicate with their etched, eco-friendly bodies, they’re durable enough for a DJ. No PVC or toxic chemicals, it’s complete with noise isolation and a 40mm speaker size. The plastic frame does feel a bit cheap at times, but pack it in a case and give it a little TLC.

3. Kikkerland Ear Buds
Careful with these ones – while they’re clever and wildly cute, you’ll find yourself subject to being mildly duped. These little buds pack as much punch as you would expect (and nothing more). Tinny and disappointing, be certain to only grab these when in a dire bind to find something to transmit your tunes. Fun and friendly, but a fiend on your bass, treble…and everything in between – they’re $9.00 for a reason.

Hats and ears off to the Urban Ears. There’s a reason they’re so well distributed. While I absolutely adore my REVEAL Bamboo Headphones, Urban Ears thought of everything.
Happy spring listening.
