Either the standards in red carpet attire have changed, or Kristen Stewart is leading some sort of awkward campaign to overthrow fancy high heels. Although wearing ~glamorous~ dresses alongside sneakers is by no means stomping on unexplored ground, Kristen does not succumb to the tutu-and-Converse-I-am-so-punk-rock-circa-2004 getup. Rather, she prefers to don dealios comprised of full-on Marchesa gowns and Nike sneakers. Which is essentially the same thing, but whatever.

From Keds to Vans to Converse to Nike, it’s safe to say that Kristen Stewart has an affinity for sneakers. Rarely found teetering around in stilettos, this former “Twilight” star knows how avoid sacrificing comfort for style.

Previously used as a device to explore /the rags to riches story/, (aka Hilary Duff in “A Cinderella Story”), the sneaker + fancy dress combo spoke to girls from a mixed class status, encouraging them to ditch their Louboutins and demonstrate their humility. However, Kristen Stewart is assumedly just releasing her inner hypebeast by “spraining her ankle” (MTV Movie Awards, 2009), or just showing her ability to say F**K YOU to fashion by ~making a statement~ at the premiere for “Snow White and the Huntsman”.

And even though this “trend” is speaking to the masses, it is essentially the outdated-but-really-not equivalent of saying you’re going to wear a floral dress with your combat boots. We’re not complaining though, because making no sense is great. That is why overalls are hIgH fAsHuN now.
Ultimately, say your thank you’s to Ms. Stewart because she most likely just saved you the trouble of finding shoes to complete your prom swag.
