Today, May 25th is Geek Pride day. What better way to celebrate than dressing the part? Thick-framed glasses, binary bracelets, gingham shirts, high-waisted pants. Proving geeks, nerds, dorks, whatever are really a ~fashion-forward~ bunch (whether they know it or not), here’s a whole bunch of fashion stuff we stole from the nerd crowd. Happy Geek Pride Day!

High Waisted Pants – Nothing quite says geek like too-high hemlimes, a la high waisted pants. But we can’t seem to get enough of this Urkle look.

Suspenders – Uh, when Victoria Beckham appears on Elle magazine wearing geek-gear suspenders, they automatically become cool, and yes, even sexy.

Thick rimmed glasses – Everyone seems to have thick framed eyewear these days. Prescription or otherwise, geeks are no longer at the butt end of a four-eyes joke.

Star Wars leggings, inspired by C3PO, channeled Balenciaga’s Futuristic Fashion

Socks & sandals – who would have thought sock in sandals would be okay, ever? But alas, they are.

Comic book prints - There’s a slew of comic-inspired fashion out there. See: 3.1 Phillip Lim Pre-Fall 2012.

Nintendo stuff – whether it’s for the ~ irony ~ of it, or for genuine appreciation of video games we loved, mega-brands (like Converse) have provided a fair share of NES merch.

Argyle – argyle is probably the ‘geekiest’ pattern that has creeped its way with a cool factor, into street-wear and high fashion. Hi, Pharrell.

Binary code is that really complicated stuff and those green numbers you remember from the Matrix (that’s an official definition, btw). This Copper Pi Cuff Bracelet takes our favourite chunky cuff jewelry, and nerdifies it with code, but making it cool in a coppery, rose colour. Plus, it makes us look smarter. Very cool.
If you’re a proud geek, check out all this geek chic, Apple-loving, CTRL-Z, CTRL-V stuff you can buy.
