PULLTEETH TUESDAY: Trending – Hawaiian Print

With summer fast approaching, it’s time to decide what trends I’m diving head first into. Last summer I dabbled with the idea of Hawaiian print shirts but this summer it’s time to take it all the way. Full on Hawaiian time. Shorts, pants, shirts, jackets, anything. Lets explore this together, shall we?

ON THE RUNWAY

The freshest example of this trend is from the Ksubi Fall/Winter 2012 show. Such perfect styling.

Prada Spring Summer 2012 got it. A good spin on the classic Hawaiian print.

Richard Chai Love Spring Summer 2012 is a simpler example of the trend. Baby steps, it’s alright.

On the opposite end of baby steps, here is Jeremy Scott‘s 90′s raver take on the Hawaiian flower for this Adidas Original tracksuit. I don’t know how he gets away with this stuff, but I love him for it.

ON CELEBRATIES

These pants on Beyonce are such a subtle ode to the Hawaiian print, but work so well. Jessie J, on the other hand, goes all out floral. Girl’s got a good stylist, I’ll tell you that.

ON BLOGGERS / ON THE STREET

Susie Bubble is arguably the queen of mixing patterns, so it’s no surprise that she is wearing a bold flower print jacket with ease. Not sure who the second shot is, but… holy crap. Amazing.

Nevermind, I take what I said about Susie Bubble being the queen of pattern mixing. I don’t even know who this is but she gets the crown. Sorry, Susie.

WHERE TO BUY

Vintage is a great route to go for this trend. Just imagine all the dads regretfully donating that shirt they swore they would wear after their vacation but never actually did. It makes sense. Here are a few decent options from Etsy (left / right), but in all honesty I’d just suggest searching local stores.

If you decide to purchase new, ASOS is your one stop shop. I was going to find a few other options, but it’s not even worth your/my time. ASOS has it all. Shirts, pants, dresses, shorts, full outfits. Everything. Here are some of my favourite picks, but there are actually hundreds of options to choose from.

Vacationing or not, this is the summer the try this trend out. There’s so much versatility in it, making it super accessible to everyone. If you’re not that adventurous try just a quiet, minimal print top. If you’re a little more daring, why not try mixing a printed shirt with printed shorts? The possibilities are endless!

Aloha!! That means goodbye too, right? Whatever. Bye!
