What is it about people across the ocean that makes them so damn cool? Is it their American-desensitization? The “I don’t give an ‘eff” attitude? Or that they’re always dressed to perfection, even if it looks like they’ve just rolled out of bed? In spirit of their absolute coolness, we’ve complied a list of our favourite non-English fashion bloggers for some style inspiration from a train and a plane distance away.
You won’t be able to understand what the hell they’re writing about, but the good news is, you don’t have to! While their adorable attempts to translate select photo captions to English have not gone unnoticed, better just to admire their drool-worthy wardrobes. These blogs are for photo-gazing purposes only.
The Poster Girl
Hailing from Stockholm, Sweden, Amanda Berg is known for her fusion of rock-‘n’-roll chick with sporty chic, if ever there was such a perfectly juxtaposed style combination. Typically European, Amanda is a fashion editor by day and a DJ by night – did you expect otherwise? Her obsession with mixing studs with stripes, platform converse with hooded knits, and pink hair with peplums make her our favourite punk Alexander Wang poster girl.
There’s something immediately attractive about Juliett Kuczynska. Perhaps it’s the fact that she’s got the looks and the wardrobe of a model-off-duty, or that she can kill it in a flap cap without trying too hard. This Polish babe is undeniably cool. But I warn you, there’s no turning back once you click that link. You’ll be immediately charmed.
The Best Two-for-One Deal
They share hellraisers, eat McDonalds with Chanel all too often, and wear fur in Mexico (don’t question if they’re hot – I have a particular aversion to that question), which makes them just about the coolest kids about town. Best friend duo Ruben Castilla De La Vega and Adriana Del Rocio Perez Gonzales (yes, that’s a mouthful), have won over our hearts for their acid spin on wardrobe basics and beautiful execution of photos – every post is truly worthy of its own editorial spread. However, I must admit I’ve misled you on this one – majority of the writing is actually not in Spanish. But to my own defense, broken English is worse than no English, right? Right. On a side note, apparently “Costra y Ampolla” is Spanish for “Scab and Blister.” How exotic!
Camille Kaasby-Wang is the mastermind behind one of Denmark’s first and largest fashion blogs. Thousands of Danish readers are said to have clicked their way into Camille’s world on a daily basis, and here’s why. Her style is accessible, her photos are reasonable and her purchases are in our price range. All in all, her blog is relatable, and surprisingly enough, doesn’t make us feel worse about ourselves. To that, we say halleluiah.
The Portuguese Olivia Palermo
There’s not much I can tell you about the painfully fashionable blogger behind Blog da Thassia, except that her penchant for style is more than compensating for the fact that I can’t confirm, let alone attempt to confirm, that her name is actually Thassia. From what I can gather, the girl can dress. The girl can also do the Olivia Palermo hair better than Olivia Palermo. And the girl’s ridiculous fetish for layering delicate jewelry until it all morphs into one statement piece has got us feeling inspired.
