An easy seven-step guide to getting your photo taken at fashion week.
Flock with the Photog’s

Let’s begin with this: you’ll be damned if all your time is spent a block away from the cameras. Don’t take the road less travelled – even if it’s easier to go another way, follow the path paved with photog’s. Nonchalantly walk directly through them, appearing as though by mistake (refer to next rule). Once one snaps, expect the others to follow – no one wants to go back to their editor as the guy who missed the shot.
Be on a Mission

The key to camera time is to look as though you don’t want any. Of course you want to be photographed, but photographers thrive off the thrill of the chase, so the idea is to not make yourself too, too available. Walk promptly with a purpose. You have very important things to do at this next fashion show thing, which makes you able to stop for only a moment, two tops.
Always Pose

You might get your photo taken, but it won’t be used if your tongue is hanging out of your mouth. Be aware of what your face and body are doing at all times. This is vital, obviously when you’ve been stopped, but most importantly, when the shot is candid. While the best street style snaps appear to be natural, anyone getting photographed knows it’s happening, prompting them to turn their better side towards the lens.
Pay Attention to the Trends

Just as your poses need to be camera ready, your outfits need to be camera ready too. You must turn a significant amount of attentiveness toward the trends when planning your getups for fashion week. If Hawaiian print is still hot, you better be wearing something with a palm tree. If your outfits are not reflective of what’s on the runways right now, your chances of being featured in the street style sections are slim. Editors want to show their readers how real people are wearing the trends, so always adorn them with a personal twist.
More Is Always More

When it comes to accessorizing, enough is never enough. So go crazy and pile ‘em on, until you’ve successfully added five pounds of gems to your weight. It’s all about the parties – arm parties, neck parties, finger parties – why not throw your ankles one heck of a party too! The cameras love that sort of thing.
Wear A Killer Pair Of Heels

The easiest way to stand out? To stand tall. Opt for the most ridiculously high and ridiculously cool shoes to have the cameras gravitating your way. (Just make sure you won’t totter – there’s nothing worse than a girl who can’t trot in her heels). Your feet will probably curse you by the end of the day, but at least you’ll get a new ‘like’-worthy profile pic’ out of it. Photographers love shoes.
Have Fashionable Friends

Double your chances of getting snapped by doubling up with an equally fashionable friend. It’s harder to ignore a group of stylish peeps than it is one person, which makes two always better than one. For those of you wondering, the above photo is of Iris Apfel and Lynn Yaeger. They’re fabulous, and still kickin’ it.
