Hey, What Ever Happened To…?

From toys to shoes to hairstyles and accessories, here’s a look back at a few the things that we thought were awesomely cool… and then they disappeared.

Crazy Bones

Back in elementary school Crazy Bones were all the craze. These little guys were a hot commodity on the playground, and “ unfair trades” often resulted in heated arguments and sobbing children. In fact, the principal of my school proceeded to ban Crazy Bones. Perhaps that’s what led to their sudden disappearance…

Scooters

Forget bikes, skateboards and rollerblades— in 2002 scooters were the coolest way for kids to cruise around town.

Phat Pharms

There was a time when every girl I knew had a pair of Phat Pharms. And if these weren’t bad enough they also came in a high-top version…

Gel Bracelets (Sex Bracelets)

Remember these? At first the bracelets were adopted as a harmless fashion fad. However, when the game “snap” was introduced the bracelets represented something a little more advanced than the 12-year olds wearing them…

Von Dutch Hats

Von Dutch was the Alexander Wang of trucker hats…. mmmaybe. These meshed-back truckers were a favorite among celebrities like Paris Hilton and Ashton Kutcher.

The Duff Puff

The “Duff Puff” was made popular by Hilary Duff, who was the greatest endorser of the style. Side bangs surfaced around the same time making Duff Puffs the perfect go-to when you didn’t feel like styling your bangs.

Anybody still rocking Von Dutch? No? Cool, bye.
