Goths, we know them as an interesting subculture who favour black clothing, crazy makeup, and equally crazy music. But this fall they are actually a group of fashionably gloomy and mysterious models that dawned the runway for Fall 2012 ready-to-wear. Designers like Gucci, Rochas, Badgely Mishka, and 3.1 Phillip Lim all adorned their models with merlot lips and pale complexions, making Morticia Addams the newest ‘it’ girl. Perfect for the upcoming fall and winter months, here are some easy beauty tips and tricks to bring you to the dark side.

Most important to completing this look, is picking out a perfect shade of dark lipstick. MAC has perfected these shades, with a perfect shade of plum, without looking like you’re already in your Halloween costume. The matte shade appropriately named ‘Diva‘ is a personal favourite and comes to $18, but can be easily mimicked by drugstore brands like Revlon or Covergirl for about half the price.

Next up, make sure your brows are especially defined dark, achieved by using a brow pencil that matches the natural colour of your eyebrows. Try not to go overboard, but just give them that extra oomph like the models of Rochas A/W 2012 shared this season. And yes, I know the mental image of a ‘goth’ has a disturbing amount of black eye makeup, but just stick to an easy coat of mascara on the top and bottom lashes to evoke the simple faces seen at 3.1 Philip Lim.

And of course, stay way from blush and bronzer.. because no self-respecting goth would be caught dead with a tan!
