The fall breeze is making its way slowly, but surely. So ladies, your cropped top is ready to retire, and the cropped pant is taking its place.
Where does the “cropped” pant begin, or end? Well, just like the cropped top, its measure is almost at an awkward length, which is meant to show just a couple inches of skin. And so, a cropped pant should end just two to three inches above your ankle. Why do we want to wear these awkwardly-tailored pair of pants? The same reason why we wear cropped tops: it elongates the body to make you look taller and leaner, and just a peek of skin is that much sexier.

This upcoming fall trend comes in a variety of styles such as the cargo cropped, shown above, or in straight-cut, skinny, or cigarette fit. They also come in a wide array of playful patterns that you can easily dress up with a pair of heels, or dress down with a pair of sneakers and a light jacket.

If you’ve got too many pairs of pants and can’t afford to fit more in your closet- or you just can’t afford them in general- you can easily cheat and pull off the cropped pant by folding your pant a couple of inches up.

Yes boys, the cropped pant is not just for the ladies. You can rock this look with a more tapered, business-like cropped pant, which is perfect for showing off those newly polished oxford shoes. Lean towards a light wool fabric that has a bit of stretch for comfort, and pair it with a light, cotton printed shirt to add a bit of edge to your look.

If you’re more of a casual-cool type of guy, you can also style your regular pants or chinos to get the cropped look, by simply folding the ends by an inch or two. As fall approaches, top off your outfit with a warm piece like the classic blazer, vest, or light peacoat.
