The Biebs first exploded onto the music scene in 2009 by wooing young teenage girls with his sweeping #luscious locks. Back then his bod was ink-less, and his image was based on an innocent boyish charm. But these days, Justin remains in the limelight for his rapidly increasing tattoo collection, which unlike his teenybopper do’, is permanent. Watch out world! Bieber is 18 now which means, HE DOESN’T NEED PERMISSION FROM HIS PARENTS TO GET TATTOOS!
Tatt Number 1- Seagull
Justin first got inked back in 2010 at a Toronto tattoo parlour to celebrate his 16th birthday. Papa Biebs set up the appointment for his teenage son as a “rite of passage” of sorts (for my 16th birthday I got a card and went to Swiss Chalet). Justin got an outline of a flying seagull on his left hip to match his daddy’s, and to symbolize the journey of learning to fly in life. Really Biebs? A seagull?? You couldn’t have at least considered a creature whose “journey in life” consists of more than eating garbage and dive-bombing pedestrians?
Tatt Number 2- Hebrew Script
Who knew Stratford native Justin Bieber was Jewish? Oh wait! He’s not! The Biebs and his dad got matching tattoos while stopping in Israel on his “My World” tour of “Yeshua” in Hebrew, which is a close equivalent of “Jesus” in English. You know what they say, when in Israel do as the Israelites…
Tatt Number 3- Portrait of Jesus
To complete the whole religious theme of his second tattoo (as well as to avoid any confusion on his return home), Justin got a portrait of Jesus on the back of his calf. Maybe even the almighty Bieber knows he needs a little divine intervention now and then to keep his career arollin’.
Tatt Number 4- Praying Hands
Clearly Justin loves Jesus, and he ain’t afraid to show it! Bieber’s fourth tattoo (and third religious one) depicts two hands together in prayer. I bet mama Biebs is praying that her son stops thinking ink and starts pumping out more no.1 hits!
Tatt Number 5- “Believe” in English
Bieber revealed his “Believe” tatt (which is a tribute to his recent album Believe) in June this year during his appearance on the David Letterman show. The seven letter word is inked in bold capital letters, but the design looks like it could have been stolen from the cover of a teenage girl’s notebook.
Tatt Number 6- “Music” in Japanese
Only two weeks after he got his “Believe” tattoo, Bieber got inked once more, this time with the tiny Japanese Kanji symbol meaning “music”. The artwork is located on his right arm, across from his previous tattoo which is on the inside of his left. I guess even the Biebs himself needs a permanent reminder to “believe” in his own “music”.
Tatt Number 7- Crown
JUSTIN IS A TATTOO ADDICT!! And as if he hasn’t defiled his body enough already, Justin recently revealed on Twitter (in a topless pic) his latest (and let’s hope last) tattoo. This most recent masterpiece is a crown on his chest- although perhaps not so inappropriate considering Bieber boy may indeed just be the current King of Hearts.
