For the past seven weeks, MTV Canada, Sony Xperia, and Booooooom have collaborated on a super rad project called Made of Imagination – a series of four episodes in which four amazing Canadian artists were challenged to re-create their songs using strange/invented/unconventional instruments.
East-Coast-indie-prince Rich Aucoin played with his junk, Alberta rockers The Sheepdogs kicked it Cuban style, and Montreal-based Little Scream played with circuit benders in a dark and beautiful performance that’ll give you shivers. Now, in (sadly) the last installment of the series, Vancouver indie pop-ers Hey Ocean! play music with donkey jaws, expired Ovaltine, 99 red balloons, and a wicked percussion band called TorQ.

David Beckingham (Daveo) / Ashleigh Ball (Ash) / Dave Vertesi (Vertesi)
1. Vertesi was in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat with Donny Osmond when he was 10.
2. Daveo spent his 1st 8 years in England and lived for 3 years in Kenya.
3. Ash is a cartoon for a living.
4. Vertesi is actually afraid of the ocean.
5. Daveo’s & Ash’s older sisters tried to set them up in grade 5. On their “date” they hung out in his basement and watched kindergarten cop.
6. We are all obsessed with Game of Thrones…”Winter is Coming”
7. All of our parents are still together.
8. None of us have ever dated each other. (Grade 5 doesn’t count)
9. We’ve had 7 different drummers.
10. On long drives across the country to pass the time we like to 1: freestyle 2: listen to books on tape 3: stop at lakes or rivers and jump in.
11. 2 out of the 3 of us practice yoga regularly. Can you guess who?
12. Vertesi a yoyo master. Seriously.
13. Ash is highly allergic to cats. Saddest.
14. Daveo is obsessed with avocados. And subsequently makes the best guacamole ever.
15. The name Hey Ocean! came from us yelling angrily at the sea.
