Everyone goes through an awkward stage while growing up, but not everybody’s ~uncomfortable~ phase is publicly displayed and internationally documented. While these Hollywood hunks are babes these days, they weren’t the most, erm, “photogenic” as kids. May this be a lesson to NEVER dismiss the dorky kid who had a crush on you in grade school; he could turn out to be the next Ryan Gosling! Or not. But still, LOVE EVERYONE!
Nicholas Hoult
You may remember the bowl-cut kid from About A Boy, Marcus, played by the then 12 year old Nicholas Hoult. His awkward yet endearing character evoked a sense of pity throughout the film as his wardrobe consisted of flood pants and knit hats. Fast forward ten years later and the 22 year old British actor now models for Tom Ford and is dating actress Jennifer Lawrence. I think things turned out all right for little Marcus don’t you?
Matthew Lewis
Chubby-cheeked Matthew Lewis (a.k.a Neville from Harry Potter) was a dorky pre-teen who – let’s face it – needed some serious dental work. Lewis’ wacky wizard role brought him to fame, but his physical transformation from dweeb to teen dream is what really got him noticed. With the help of some braces and hair gel, Lewis has become one of the hottest Harry Potter cast members that both wizards and muggles alike can agree on.
Jonathan Lipnicki
Little Lipnicki found childhood fame through roles in films such as Jerry Maguire, Stuart Little and The Little Vampire. Back when his acting career debuted he was a puney youngster with spiked blonde hair and round-rimmed glasses. These days however, Lipnicki has traded in his nerdy specs for contacts and has turned his boyish bod into a muscle machine.

Before Shia LaBeouf was a buff, serious Hollywood actor, he was an awkward adolescent boy playing Louis on the Disney show Even Stevens. Constantly pulling pranks and harassing his older sister, LaBeouf’s character was anything but desirable. However when LaBeouf left Disney he left behind his childish ways and grew into a ~sophisticated~ hunk of burning love.
Thomas Brodie-Sangster
Tiny Thomas broke out on the Hollywood scene with his role playing Sam, in the romcom film Love Actually. After outgrowing his scruffy red hair and lanky limbs, the British actor went on to play Sir Paul McCartney in the biopic Nowhere Boy. The more he ages the more Brodie-Sangster grows into his looks; at this rate who knows how hot he will get!
