How To Find The Right Glasses For Your Face

If you’ve been prescribed glasses, you’ve been #blessed. Over the past few years, glasses have been introduced to the fashion industry as the new “cool.” If you’re one to object, then you’re probably wearing the wrong style. The key to pulling off this accessory is to find the right fit that suits your face shape. We’ve got that covered – here is the ultimate guide to finding the perfect spectacles for your face.

Diamond face shape:

Narrow structure at forehead and chin, very broad cheekbones.

What to wear:

Rectangular glasses with soft edges/curves – this will soften your angular features.

Heart face shape:

Sharper cheekbones, very narrow/pointy at chin.

What to wear:

Look for long horizontal-oval shaped, or thick square frames – this will help balance the structure of your face and take away emphasis from the pointy chin.

Oblong face shape:

Greater in length than width, high forehead and square chin.

What to wear:

Lean towards large round frames with thick, emphasized rims – the bolder the better – this will shorten the appearance of your face as you add width with frame detail.

Oval face shape:

Longer in length than width, with soft jaw and proportionate structure.

What to wear:

Large squared frames, or funky, cat-eyed tips. Anything that can draw attention to the centre of your face works well to keep it looking proportionate, and add more detail to your subtle features.

Pear face shape:

Oval-like structure with emphasis on the cheeks.

What to wear:

Look for large rectangular or wayfarer-style frames – this will add width to the upper half of the face, creating an overall balance to your features.

Round face shape:

Round structure, with emphasis on roundness of the cheeks but still very proportionate.

What to wear:

Wear very sharp, square, or rectangle frames to add angularity to the overall appearance of your shape. Bold, dark colors also help emphasize the natural lines of the structure.

Square face shape:

Very angular wide cheekbones equal to the forehead length, but very symmetrical.

What type of glasses to wear:

Lean towards large, round frames to take attention away from the width of the cheekbones, and add length to the structure of your face. Additionally, try a thinner, lighter color to prevent the face from looking bulky.
