Singers can be just as well-known for their looks as they are for their work. Musicians who love their locks have become so defined by their style that their faces could disappear and we would still recognize them – by their hair. So… let’s try it.
1. Amy Winehouse
The late Amy Winehouse had hair as big as her voice. The singing sensation was notoriously recognized by her massive black beehive mane. Often seen leaving the house without a purse, Winehouse most likely used her do’ as a storage space.
2. Justin Bieber
When Bieber cut his infamous sweep, he broke the hearts of millions of teenage girls worldwide. Now rocking a more ~mature~ style, the Biebs has become known for his sophisticated flicked-up feathers.
3. Steven Tyler
Not only is Steven Tyler famous for his enormous mouth, his rock n’ roll lengthy waves are a distinguishing feature of the Aerosmith frontman. Imperative for rocking out, Tyler’s hair evokes a sweet emotion.
4. Bob Marley
Reggae legend Bob Marley has repeatedly been depicted with his swaying dreadlocks. His matted hair has become as iconic as his songs as the Rastafarian musician wrote “One Love” about his chilled out mop.
5. Elly Jackson
Apart from Rihanna, Elly Jackson may just be one of the few female singers who can rock a sweeping faux-hawk. The La Roux frontwoman ignores passing hair fads and sticks to her famed bad-a$$ cut.
6. Bret Michaels
Even though bandanas haven’t been in fashion since the 90s, Bret Michaels isn’t about to give up his signature look. While rocking out in Poison, Michaels started tying his luscious blonde locks out of his crystal blue eyes with colourful head scarves- and hasn’t stopped since. His look is so bad….it’s good.
With a name like Slash, you can wear anything you want – and people will respect you. The Guns N’ Roses guitarist always wears his curly fro’ down and often under a top hat. LIKE A BOSS!
Always looking disheveled, Ke$ha’s ratted mane is part of her signature wacky style. Sometimes throwing a few colourful highlights in the mix, Ke$ha’s hair somehow makes her feel like P.Diddy…
9. Willie Nelson
Don’t let his braids fool you, Willie Nelson is a good ol’ country boy at heart. Often seen sporting a hairstyle popular with young school girls, I bet Nelson’s do’ is always on his mind.
10. Marilyn Monroe
When the likes of Madonna, Gwen Stefani, Anna Nicole Smith and Scarlet Johansson have emulated your iconic coif, you know it’s one for the books.
