Really Ridiculous Designer Items

Who ever said fashion was frivolous? Don’t we all need a Hermes colouring book or a Jil Sander paper bag? Don’t worry, I’m only half kidding. But lately I’ve been on the hunt to find the most ridiculous fashion items at equally ridiculous prices and was not disappointed.  From clothing to accessories to sock masks, here are some crazy fashion items that really just shouldn’t exist.

Jil Sander Paper Bag ($290)

Here’s an item that I’m sure people buy, and is absolutely absurd. Jil Sander menswear models were sporting the worlds most expensive lunch bag in the 2012 show.  For close to 300 dollars you can have your very own paper bag with the Jil Sander logo on it. Also available in black, very chic.

Givenchy Calfskin Snapback ($990)

If you are looking to complete your outfit, there are a ton of designer hats you probably need to know about.  Givenchy has a baseball cap for around 1200 dollars, and it’s made entirely of black calfskin for that extra feeling of luxury.

Rick Owens Sock Mask ($225) & Socks ($92)

Rick Owens was an obvious choice when hunting for some crazy items.  Most of them I can learn to appreciate but for some reason I just can’t get into this 256 dollar toque. Maybe I need to be more openminded.  You can also cop a pair of Rick Owens basic black socks for 100 dollars.

Dior Phone $5000

Dior came out with a cellphone that is probably more glamourous than your average Smartphone.  For 5000 dollars you can get your hands on a Swarovski encrusted touch screen cellphone designed by the French fashion house Dior. Good luck finding a case for it though.

Gucci Bike ($14,000) & Chanel Bike ($17,000)

Another awesome trend emerging is fashion bicycles. Not only is there a Chanel cruiser bicycle (obviously) but Gucci collaborated with famous bike brand Bianchi and came up with their own super chic bicycle. I think we should demand a matching helmet.

Marc Jacobs Pencil Crayons & Surfboard

Marc Jacobs is the king of expanding his brand, but… has he gone too far? If you weren’t already aware, you can buy yourself some Marc Jacobs pencil crayons and even a Marc Jacobs surf board.

Hermes Colouring Book ($140)

Fashion colouring books have also surfaced, my favourite being by Hermes for about 140 dollars for 12 pages of colouring.  The pictures are actually pretty cute, I don’t know if I could bring myself to colour all over a piece of paper that is essentially worth 10 dollars.

Prada Tea Bags

Probably more affordable than an actual Prada bag, but still.

Chanel Guitar ($5,450), Scooter, Football ($195) & Snowboard ($2,750)

Finally, leave it to Mr. Lagerfeld to be at the top of the most ridiculous list with an entire line of items that just should not have been created.  A Chanel football, skis, snowboards, scooters, tennis rackets, and quilted guitar cases… And yes, all of these are real.

Now you can take your pick and decide which of these items you want to save up for, tweet @mtv_fora and tell us which one you’re thinking. I’m going with the Chanel scooter.
