It might only be the beginning of November, but we’re already counting down the days until the Met Gala next spring, the most extravagant night in fashion.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced earlier today that the theme for the 2018 edition of the gala will be “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination”—
and it’ll be hosted by the Queen of the Met Gala herself, Rihanna, alongside international human rights lawyer Amal Clooney.
According to the museum, the gala will “highlight the enduring influence of religion and liturgical vestments on fashion.” To top things off, Rihanna and Clooney will be joined as hosts by world-renowned designer Donatella Versace, who is a sponsor of the event.
The trio take over the hosting gig from last year’s celebrity hosts Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams, Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady.
Rihanna is always the most highly anticipated star to walk the red carpet every Met Gala, and last year was no different, being one of the only guests to follow the Comme des Garçons theme last year, wearing a dramatic CDG dress with of floral fabrics formed to look like petals.
Amal Clooney has only attended the event once with husband George Clooney, where she stunned in a red Maison Margiela Artisanal gown by John Galliano for 2015’s China: Through The Looking Glass–themed gala.
The 2018 Met Gala will be held on May 7, 2018.
