The antics of Hannah, Marnie, Jessa and Shoshanna are quickly nearing their end. With half of season 6 of HBO’s Girls—the series’ last—already behind us, there’s still a few things we want to see from our favourite female foursome.
AN EPISODE WHERE THE WHOLE GANG’S TOGETHER
As the series progressed, it brought the girls further away from each other, both emotionally and geographically: on honeymoons, into rehab, Iowa, Japan and everywhere in between. Before the end, we’re hoping we’ll get to see the gang all together one last time. And if we’re lucky, it’ll be more like “Wedding Day” and less like the cringe fest “Beach House” was.
HONEST PORTRAYALS OF SEX AND LOVE
Girls has never shied away from presenting real, raw and often unglamorous portrayals of sex and sexuality. The series has continually pushed the envelope, depicting all sorts of sex including but not limited to: gay sex, lesbian sex, masturbation, the infamous ass eating scene and that troubling encounter with Adam and Natalia. While Girls‘ bedroom scenes and excessive nudity have been heavily critiqued over the years, it’s thrived in an age of sexual renaissance. The show’s diverse representations of intimacy have celebrated sexual liberation and brought important conversations around relationships and consent to the table—we’d hate to see the series end without one last naked hurrah.
AN UPDATE ON CAROLINE
After the birth of her adorable daughter Jessa-Hannah Bluebird Poem Schlesinger-Sackler (or Samps, if that’s too long for you), Caroline takes off, leaving Laird alone to care for their child with the occasional help from Uncle Adam. Not only are we concerned for Caroline, but we do miss her and think that she could offer Hannah some insight on pregnancy and motherhood.
A CHARLIE CAMEO
We know it’s highly unlikely, but a last cameo from the deliciously handsome Christopher Abbott would be happily welcomed. We’ve been Team Charnie since season 2 (and were again after the spectacular “The Panic In Central Park” episode–before we found out he was a drug addict, of course) and a final interaction between the two would be major fan service.
FOR JESSA AND ADAM TO BREAK UP
We know you’re thinking it too. It was fun while it lasted, but this tornado of a romance has officially worn out its welcome. Besides, Jessa and Hannah are a way more important relationship than Jessa and Adam could ever be.
