Any space we had left in our hearts is now being occupied by the virtual kitties of Neko Atsume. For those of you who haven’t embraced the virtual cat mother life, we are letting you in on the pure joy that these non shedding kitties bring.
From damp matchboxes to golden fish, these cats give us everything we didn’t know we needed. In return, we’ve written our personal thanks to the special kitties that have wandered through our yards and into our hearts.
My dearest Tubs,
You came, you saw, you ate all my food. Normally I’d be mad, but you are cute and give me lots of fish in exchange for eating all of the food I leave out for the other cats. I also see a bit of myself in you…the way you just lay there with the smuggest face after devouring a meal (I am the exact same…oops.)
I keep seeing that you’ve visited me on Neko Atsume, yet I’ve never seen you in the (virtual kitty) flesh. I keep putting out the most luxurious cat foods to get you to come during a time that I check my yard/the app (I’m talking about those foods that take gold fish as payment – that’s how serious I am). We have similar names so maybe, just maybe, you’re my virtual spirit animal. I’d really like to finally ~meet~ you.
I want to take this time to say thank you. Not only for your loyalty but for your never ending generosity. In the short time I’ve known you, I’ve basically become financially dependent on you, you are the ~sugar daddy~ of cats. Your love for the Cushion (green) has lead you to leave me a ridiculous amount of fishes. In return, I’ve kept the green cushion out on my yard for quite some time now and out on my yard it will stay, just for you. I figure it is the least I can do.
Dear Virtual Kitties,
I have always been a dog person. I never would have dreamed of having kitties—even virtual ones. But then, you came into my life with your tiny paws and tiny little ‘X’ butts and now, I love you. I feel like a proud mother when I see a new cat in my humble backyard. I love sending photos of you to my best friends. I don’t care if they don’t care. Because I care. A lot.
I’m not a cat person, but my family did have a cat for many years. His name was Pumpkin, he was an orange & white tabby and despite the odds, I loved him a lot. After 14 years together, Pumpkin left us for the Neko Atsume in the sky. Now I have you, Pumpkin. A *virtual* orange & white tabby who’s spacey and loves to play with Rubber Ball (red). You’ve visited me 100 times and have even given me a memento of aluminum pins (they make rattling noises when you shake them). I know you’re virtual, but thanks for brightening my day every time you decide to stop by. You keep the memory of real life Pumpkin alive.
To my virtual Neko cats,
You’re the first thing I see in the morning and the last thing I see at night. You keep me company on my long subway rides and help me avoid awkward interactions *casually looks at phone to play Neko Atsume*. When my own REAL cat Elvis wanted to sit in my lap he couldn’t fit because you were sitting there instead. I hope you know just how much I love you, especially when I buy you fancy food and new toys…and I know you love me too when you give me little mementos. The more my yard gets filled with virtual cats the more my life gets filled with joy. I look forward to seeing you all in my yard…I will be remodeling your home soon but I need to know if you prefer modern or zen for the theme?
P.S. when you turn around and show your little butts it makes me day.
