Ever since we caught word that our friends at Riverdale High were headed for a Kickstarter style makeover, we got to reminiscing about the days of digest, and more importantly, the days of Betty and Veronica.
Admit it, at some point in your life you turned to the sometimes BFFs and often frenemies’ storylines for life lessons and inspiration, and there’s nothing wrong with that! How’s it any different than turning to celebs we’ve never even met for the same thing? At the end of the day, we’re all a bunch of Betty and Veronicas, and maybe even Cheryl Blossoms.
Here’s our comic-al list of Hollywood celebs known for their Best-Friend-Frenemie antics!
Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian—Reality Bites
Paris Hilton loves to point out how Kim K’s success is owed entirely to the hotel heiress. Back before we spent our Sunday nights Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Kim K spent her nights keeping up with the Hiltons while working as Paris’ personal assistant. Sorry Betty, but Veronica definitely came out on top in this reality strip.
Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner—Ladies of the L’illuminati
Iggy Azalea and Nicki Minaj—Rap Battle It Out
This B&V duo is known for their salty beef over lyrics rather than boys. Apparently Nicki felt Iggy could have been more authentic with her raps, but that didn’t stop Iggy from showing support for Nicki when the rapper’s wardrobe malfunctioned at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards. Classic frenemie behaviour. ~Shakes head repeatedly~
Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie—Brad’s Girls
The Aniston-Jolie debacle dates all the way back to 2005 when Aniston’s then husband, Brad Pitt, left her for Angelina. The tabloids have managed to keep the story alive for 10 long years, basically writing them up as the adult version of Betty and Veronica.
Serena Van der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf—Riverdale vs. Constance
Serena and Blair—television’s favourite on-again off-again besties. Blake Lively and Leighton Meester gave teenage girls a real life version of Betty and Veronica. They fought over boys, nearly destroyed each other’s futures and somehow still managed to always be there for one another. They may be fictional, but to us, they’re real.
Taylor Swift and Katy Perry—Bad Blood Digest
The Bad Blood music video says it all, but it’s so unlike Betty to put it all out there like that. Maybe Taylor is the real Veronica in this situation? No. Never!
Archie Andrews—Thinking Out Loud
So in a world where Taylor is Betty, Katy is Ron and Ed is Archie, does real life Betty win due to the simple fact that Tay and Ed are BFFs? Digest that!
