Another vintage find from our resident Australian thrift queen, Katie!
My first impressions of this top: Love the colour, Love the fabric.. Hate the cut.
I tried it on in the shop, and it billowed around my hips like a deflated hot-air balloon. Not exactly the look I was going for! But it was only $6 and I could definitely see potential. So I took this little tangerine dream home with me (all it needed was a little love and affection). I figured there was no harm in taking to it with my dressmaker scissors and hitching it up a few inches (true Katie style).
I often feel this way when I’m looking through a second hand store. Whether it be a pair of jeans that’d look better as shorts, a maxi that’d look better as a mini or a daggy top that’d look so much better cropped…. there’s something gratifying about re-inventing a piece, and making it uniquely your own.
Until next time,
be fabyoulous, be younique and be youtiful xxx K
