Whether it’s a smokey eye, a sharp contour, or a bold lip, makeup has always been tied to self identity, self expression, and individuality. These factors play into promoting self-confidence and play by one of the most important rules of the industry; if you got it, flaunt it.
Expressing yourself through makeup is something that you should never be shy to flaunt, and Pride Month is the perfect opportunity to show off your skills. This month, we’re all about supporting brands that promote love and inclusivity by giving back to the LGBTQ community. Here are a few of our favourite Pride products that are paving the way for the beauty industry.
Milk Makeup has always been on a mission to help beauty lover express and explore the sparkle in their identity. The brand has teamed up with The Center in NYC to launch the Limited Edition Pride Pack, complete with the super sparkly Glitter Lip Gloss and Equality Tattoo Stamp. The brand also launched the super shimmery Glitter Stick, a rainbow-hued highlighter that will ensure that you’re the star of the show at Pride. The stick is made with nourishing mango butter, coconut oil, and avocado oil, but what’s even better is that Milk will be donating 50% of all proceeds from these products to The Center for the month of June.
As a gay teen, Zach Dishinger, the Founder and CEO of Formula Z, was faced with bullying and harassment solely based on his sexual orientation. His own experiences inspired him to create Mission Z, an ultra-moisturizing, long wearing matte-lip colour in a beautiful neutral mauve colour. 50% of net proceeds from Mission Z are donated to The Trevor Project, a national organization that provides crisis intervention to LGBTQ youth. You can purchase Mission Z on the brand’s website.
Make Up Forever
Make Up Forever has teamed up with the Hetrick-Martin Institute to celebrate 39 years of the brand empowering LGBTQ youth by releasing 39 new shades of the Artist Color Pencil. This beauty game changer is a first of its kind product. You can use it to line eyes and lips, contour, add freckles, and get creative with the freedom to express yourself through makeup. From now until June 16th, 2018, Make Up Forever will donate $10 to HMI every time someone posts a selfie of a unique look that they’ve created with the hashtag #AcceptedAnywhere. Make sure to put your most colourful face forward, and don’t forget to tag @makeupforeverus and @HetrickMartin.
With the Lemonhead Reigning Men Spacejam, you can show your pride this month by getting decked out in this dazzling purple glitter pigment. This annually released favourite benefits GLAAD by donating $5 of every jar sold. This will be the third year in a row that Lemonhead has brought back the coveted ultraviolet pigment, however the product is only available for a limited time.
