Being a competitive athlete means putting in hours upon hours of hardcore gym time to achieve athletic perfection. While we watched in awe at the stamina and perseverance of these athletes, we couldn’t help but also watch in slight envy of their hairstyles too.
No one knows how to craft a long lasting do’ better than an Olympian, and we’ve been scoping out our favourite looks from the girls of Rio 2016. Click below the cut for these athlete approved hairstyles to steal for your next day at the gym, they are sure to last long past your morning yoga class.
We loved British cyclist Laura Trott’s relaxed braided pigtails! This athlete put the pedal to the (gold) medal, already winning 2 first place medals for Great Britain in the Omnium finals (and looked hella cute while doing it). If you try this look we recommend applying a simple frizz control spray to keep that helmet hair under control after your workout.
TWIST BACK BRAIDS
Track star Nafissatou Thaim completed each leg of the Women’s heptathlon on top, bringing home a gold medal for Belgium! Her braids looked amazing on the track, and we especially love the way she styled this twisted back ponytail look. Try this sheen spray on your hair to keep your braids shiny, moisturized and staying in place longer!
Aly Raisman of the US gymnastic team has been rocking this super stable high bun all week! If this do’ can withstand her incredible tumbling passes and vaults, it should hold up for your morning cardio routine. Aly says her secret is tons of hairspray, but we think a liberal amount of pins & elastics should do the trick!
Another one of the #FINALFIVE is giving us mad inspo! Laurie Hernandez’s preppy ponytail stayed put during her gold medal performance and was artfully slicked back out of her face (perfect for fierce flipping). The best part? Her adorable curls! Pull back your hair into a tight ponytail and enhance your natural curl with a defining serum to achieve this look.
