Along with the first iPhone, Facebook and The O.C., another thing the 2000s also blessed us with were the many iterations of the male/female R&B match-up. The formula was simple: Any successful rapper or R&B singer would team up with a fellow artist, they recorded a banger, then acted together in a cheesy music video. And thus, we as an audience were gifted the following five masterpieces.
You might remember her from the golden year of 2004. She sang the soundtrack to your middle school break up, “Leave (Get Out)”. After nearly a decade since her last full-length album, The High Road, it seems like JoJo is finally preparing to release new music.
In preparation for her (rumored) new album, we decided to take a trip down memory lane–here’s what JoJo’s been up to since 2004.
She was the queen of rhinestoned bell bottomed jeans, hair clips, and friend-zoning. Lets face it, at one point or another we all wanted to be Lizzie McGuire (or at least be part of her inner circle). We were all jealous of their three-way calling abilities, Lizzie’s hair accessories, and Miranda’s cool taste in music. In three short years Lizzie, Gordo, and Miranda taught us more than any textbook or lecture. Sure, we were all somewhat aware that we would never be as cool as Lizzie, (~seriously~ she went to Aaron Carter’s “Party” that one time) but nevertheless, we tried.
