Street Style Lookbook: A Lack of Colour

This past Monday signified the 10 year anniversary of the premiere of The O.C. – and naturally, we celebrated the momentous occasion with a Seth Cohen marathon. Led by the soothing swell of Ben Gibbard’s voice (via Death Cab For Cutie), the most applicable tune to accompany this week’s streetstyle goes by the name of A Lack of Colour. Albeit depressing, the title holds true – there was quite literally a lack of colour this week on the streets!

We showed you all black everything, but…what’s life without a little bit of contrast? Peruse these black & white looks for instant chicness and also instant musical throwbacks. #BenGibbard4ever read more…

THE BEST: Perfume Adverts

The new Marc Jacobs Daisy commercial (pictured above) has us actually wanting to go out and make the purchase. Which is rare! Because perfume ads are generally full of cheeze. Watch the Daisy spot and five additional 30-second bundles of beauty trying to sell you new scents. Pleasure for your eyes and your ears after the jump. read more…

HEADLINES: Lily Allen Gives Birth, Lady Gaga is a Single Lady, and H&M Collaborates with Marni!

Another day, another dollar, another collaboration. Preview the upcoming Marni for H&M collection; hitting stores March 8th 2012. Don’t tell Donatella, but we are ACTUALLY excited for this one! (Fashionologie)

It’s official. Marc Jacobs is definitely NOT going to Dior, and neither is anyone else. The seemingly endless search for John Galliano’s replacement rages on; with no clear choice in sight. Is it possible Galliano is irreplaceable? (Fashionista)

Miranda Kerr visited Chelsea Lately yesterday to discuss natural child birth, her hubby Orly, and Flynn’s love of Hip Hop.Chelsea was as baffled with the idea of drug-free birth as we are! Who does that? Anyhow, I will never get over the way Aussies say the word “so” with their accents. (Popsugar)

Lady Gaga tells the latest issue of Vanity Fair that she is destined to be single. Of her previous relationships Gaga says; “the attraction is initially there and it’s all unicorns and rainbows. And then they hate me.” Who could hate Gaga? She’s got some love to give! (People)

According to WWD, retailers everywhere were pleasantly surprised by the booming success of last week’s Black Friday. Apparently people are spending, regardless of the economic climate. Well, Americans are anyways. (The Cut)

Lily Allen had a baby girl over the weekend! Congrats! Do you think motherhood will mellow out hard partying Lily? (In Style)

The tried-and-true take-out bag gets a make-over! A high-end replica of the generic take-out bag seen all over New YorkCity has been produced in leather. If you do cave and buy this adorable bag, please do not put greasy take-out in it! (The Purse Blog)

HEADLINES: Bradley is Sexy, Diddy is a Back-Up, and Dior is ‘Paralyzed’.

Bradley Cooper is officially The Sexiest Man Alive – well according to People Magazine anyways. Delusional Bradley describes himself as a, “a decent-looking guy.” Clearly he has never seen a mirror. (People)

My favourite couple of the moment, Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, was spotted out and about inNew York City. The two have been camera-shy thus far in their relationship; walking recent red carpets separately. Boo, all I want is some PDA! (Popsugar)

Everyone has a back-up guy. You know, the guy you call when you’re between relationships and just want to hook-up. Cameron Diaz’s back-up guy is Diddy – and the two have been nuzzling and making out everywhere. (US Weekly)

So there has been some debate over Kim Kardashian’s Marie Claire interview, leaving most asking; is this evidence that the marriage was a sham? Well, no one has quite answered that question as of yet, and frankly I am losing interest. (Fashionista)

The newest rumour to circulate about Dior and John Galliano’s successor; they simply cannot make a decision. Reportedly the brand is “paralyzed” and doesn’t know what to do.  Ugh, just hire somebody already! (Fashionologie)

So Emma Roberts went to visit Chris McMillan, the man behind “The Rachel,” and walked out looking EXACTLY like Jennifer Anniston. Is he a hair whisperer? (People Style Watch)

Elle’s Kyle Anderson has been chosen to replace Taylor Tomasi Hill at Marie Claire. This move reunites Kyle and Nina Garcia who worked together at Elle prior to Nina’s departure. Congrats boo. (The Cut)

HEADLINES: Kermie Gets a Makeover, The Fashion World Shakes Up Its Roster, and Kris Jenner is a Dirty Cheater.

Kris Jenner was on Leno the other night when she admitted to carrying on an affair during her first marriage to Robert Kardashian. Kris says, “We had wild sex everywhere, all the time.” Okay first of all TMI; second isn’t it just so convenient that she drops this juicy secret while trying to pimp a book? (The Superficial)

Tamara Mellon, co-founder and face of the brand, and Joshua Shulman, the company’s CEO, are leaving Jimmy Choo by the end of the month. Shulman assures skeptics that their decisions to leave were made independently, however this seems a little fishy to me. Change is a coming! (Fashionista)

It seems Manolo Blahnik and Franca Sozzani share the same point of view concerning the John Galliano scandal. Blahnik tells Vogue UK he thinks Galliano was treated horrifically by Dior and alleges the company destroyed a talent. Those are fighting words Manolo, fighting words! (VogueUK)

Speaking of Dior, the guessing game continues concerning who will replace Galliano as reports state negotiations with front-runner Marc Jacobs have slowed. Further Pheobe Philo, Marc’s successor-to-be at Louis Vuitton, has announced she has no plans to leave Celine. Ah, the plot thickens. (The Fash Pack)

Modi Operandi is stealing its employees from all corners of the fashion industry. Among the recruits are Taylor Tomasi Hill, former style and accessories director of Marie Claire, and Roopal Patel, a longtime executive in the fashion offices of Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman. Sneaky, sneaky. (The New York Times)

Paris’ Printemps is spending Christmas with Karl Lagerfeld, rather LOTS of Karl Lagerfelds. Karl was given the privilege of orchestrating the store’s Rêve d’Evasion (that is, travel dream) Christmas windows, which feature mini Lagerfeld marionettes photographing, filming, sketching, and posing all over Paris. Why am I not surprised? (Style.com)

Miss Piggy isn’t the only muppet to invade the fashion world; her beau Kermitt is right there with her. The famous frog got a formal wear make over courtesy of Brooks Brothers. The retailer gifted Kermie his first new tuxedo since 1979. (The Cut)

HEADLINES: Dina Lohan is Stupid, Iris Apfel is Mean, and Kanye West’s Fashion Career Isn’t Over?

Terry Richardson is one busy man with many, many doppelgangers. While shooting Beyonce recently for Harper’s Bazaar Terry took a time out to shoot some outtakes of Queen B fooling around with his signature glasses. This photo is now my desktop background. (Popsugar)

Whoa! Is Iris Apfel starting to lose it? They say dementia can manifest itself in aggression and I say that ‘they’ are right! The plagiarizing jewellery designer recently told the Telegraph that she wants to throw up when walking down 5th Avenue now because all the fat and ugly people don’t wear enough clothing. She goes on to say that stretch jeans over size 10 should be outlawed. Wow that’s gutless! Geeze, who peed in your cornflakes Iris? (The Cut)

Why am I not surprised that Dina Lohan has stooped to a new low? Because she’s a terrible person, that’s why! It seems mommy dearest is shopping around a personal memoir about Lilo’s partying and legal woes. Right, because that’s just what a good mother should do! Seriously, Mike and Dina never gave Lindsay a chance, did they?Throwing their daughter under the bus is their M.O. (Refinery 29)

So the Rolling Stone thinks that Kanye West’s fashion career isn’t dead … yet. It’s a point of view not shared by many, however, the article explores how he could have been more successful and ultimately concludes Kanye shouldn’t give up after only one attempt. No! Don’t encourage him! I don’t know if I can endure another disaster like that! (Rolling Stone)

Dior seems virtually unaffected by John Galliano’s racist tirade and departure from the brand. In fact, revenue is up 21%. Geeze people are weird, it’s like public indecency doesn’t even exist anymore. It’s just like when Kate Moss got caught doing coke and her career experienced a resurgence, although, I guess John Galliano’s career is still in question but I’m betting he will be just fine! (Fashionista)

So you know that depressing voice-over at the beginning of Rihanna’s We Found Love music video? That woman’s voice with the English accent, you know? Yeah it’s totally Agyness Deyn. (NY Fashion)

Good things come in pairs, right? Is that even an expression? Well, either way that doesn’t apply here. Because when handbags come in twos (specifically in two identical designs) it’s called plagiarism. I wonder how Marc Jacobs will respond. (The Purse Blog)

HEADLINES: Carine Disses Oprah, H&M Does VERSACE, and is Alexander Wang the new John Galliano??? (Patience is a Stupid Virtue)

Carine Roitfeld has finally answered the question on everyone’s mind; what’s next? Well … a magazine, that’s what! But don’t worry Vogue; she’s not looking to compete. However she has specified it will be a print magazine instead of online because, “things quickly go out of style on the Internet.” I guess that’s true, but not if you’re on your game like us! (Fashionologie)

The latest tip to hit the rumour mill? Dior has tired of courting Marc Jacobs and has now moved on to Alexander Wang. Can Wang be persuaded to move? It remains to be seen; but you got to think they will be needing a creative director soon. I mean, like, how are they functioning over there? (Vogue UK)

Here’s your first look at the newest H&M/designer collaboration. Betcha can guess the designer by just looking at these images! However, I will aid those too slow to catch the drift; hint: It’s Versace. Not that you will be able to get your hands on any of it, this shit will sell-out in seconds! (Refinery 29)

Way to go Chicago! You are officially America’s Most Mustache-Friendly City. Movember is just around the corner; so this could be your time to shine! But please remember; just because it’s on your face doesn’t mean it’s exempt from man-scaping. Maintain that shit! (Chicagoist)

Lara Stone has no memory because she used to smoke so much pot when she was living in the Netherlands. Lara, we warned you! Those cannabis fragrances were for smelling not smoking! But of course, you didn’t remember that because you were high for the first 25 years of your life! Silly girl. (The Cut)

Kate Moss has announced that she is launching a jewelry line in collaboration with Fred. Her inspiration? Her tattoos! Interesting concept; I just hope she doesn’t have a tramp stamp or something. (My Daily)

Only these select few people can rock a unibrow guilt free, and to their credit, they rocked it hard! Personally, it’s not my style but all the power to yuh my hairy friends! (Life)
