Pullteeth: Virtual Vacation

On my walk home today, with winds turning my ears red and fingers numb, all I could think about was taking a vacation. It’s that time of year for us Canadians. The “lets dream about all the fabulous places we could go” time. Now, I’m not sure about you, but Art Basel in Miami has been on the top of my to-do list for years. Wait, what? That t-shirt cost you $1625? (And other ridiculously cheap looking expensive things)

Your Comprehensive Guide To Pronouncing Designer Names

If fashion wasn’t already one of the most intricate areas of art (a tall, but deserved, order), it’s been further complicated throughout history by its phonetics. Design words – from ombré to décolletage, haute to ruching – and the emergence of new, exotic designer names – have been mangled by even Vogue’s most faithful follower. We’ve all had one of those read-it-but-never-once-said-it words touch our tongue leaving us bruised and broken, and vowing to silence rather than relive the horror of pronouncing Prabal Gurung (prub-le ger-rung) in public ever again. Crack open your schoolbook kids, because it’s time to brush up on the ABC’s of fashion designer diction. read more…
