THROWBACK: What Your Old Cellphone Says About You


So it might not be Thursday, but we’ve got a #throwback 4 u.

Do you remember your first cell phone? Because I do. And it was a Mitsubishi G310. Reserved for informing my parents when I would be coming home late from the mall and nothing else, this ~first cell phone~ made me feel independent and “grown up” – despite my pre-pubescent state. Though at first it may appear as a cluster of shoulder pads and confusion, style during the ’80s was built off of different reactions to materialism. On one hand, girls wore bright colours, oversized earrings and sequin everything to identify as a certain worth. Not surprisingly, punk fashion emerged to defy this materialistic notion and manifested into a cult-like trend. It is only fair, then, to pay tribute to a few ’80s divas on both sides of the spectrum -and some that lay in between.
