Our Favourite Movies At TIFF And Their Perfect Beauty Product Pairing

The 2018 Toronto International Film Festival brought out some of the most exciting new movies and the hottest red carpet looks we’ve seen in a while.

From colourful liner to shimmering, dewy skin, there are a lot of looks both on and off the big screen we can get behind, so much so we’re already thinking about how we can steal some of the styles from the films. Here are some of our favourite TIFF movies and a product to go along with them.

A Star is Born—Fenty Beauty Diamond Bomb [$38]
The only way to really shine all day and all night is with Fenty Beauty’s Diamond Bomb. Taking inspiration from Ally’s days as a rising pop sensation, this shimmering powder is perfect for both face and body, and will have you feeling like a star in no time.

Vox Lux—GLAM GLOW Supermud Mask [$75]
Vox Lux is a much grittier pop story than A Star Is Born, filled with eccentric hairstyles, lots of intense makeup, and full-faced gold masks—making the GLAM GLOW Supermud Mask the perfect pairing for this film. The mask works to keep skin looking fresh after a long night on stage with heavy makeup followed by an after party or two.

Teen Spirit—SMASHBOX Studio Skin Hydrating Foundation [$42]
Teen Spirit’s Violet—played by Elle Fanning—is all about the minimalist look, opting for a fresh, natural face with little to no makeup. This makes the SMASHBOX Hydrating Foundation the perfect match for this film or for someone who’d rather spend her time on stage than in front of a mirror.

First Man—Design.Me Hold Me Hairspray [$22]
We’re all about Olivia Hamilton’s 60s inspired hairdo in Damien Chazelle’s First Man. But if you want to pull off the same look and keep those big curls on lock all day long, you’ll need a serious hair spray like Design.Me’s Hold Me spray for optimal strength without the crunch.

The Hate U Give—Glossier Lip Gloss [$14]
When you’re busy trying to change the world and rallying at protests, makeup takes a back burner and for good reason. But Starr’s glowy skin is something we want to covet and a little lip gloss is a simple and easy way to do the trick while on the go.

Life Itself—Kat Von D Tattoo Liner [$25]
Dylan Dempsey’s adolescent rocker phase in Dan Fogelman’s Life Itself has us reaching for the black eyeliner and ripped skinny jeans of our own youth. If you’re looking to take a trip back in time but don’t want your look to feel dated, Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner has got your inner rocker chick’s back.

The Life And Death Of John F. Donovan—NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil [$34]
Taking inspiration from Jessica Chastain’s character in the film, the matching product for The Life And Death Of John F. Donovan would be the velvet matte lip pencil from NARS. The pencil provides bold, red lip colour that stays on no matter how busy your day might get without drying or flaking.

Assassination Nation—Milk Kush Fiber Brow Gel [$22]
The girls from Assassination Nation aren’t here to play games and neither are their brows. While they find themselves in a fight for their lives, their brows always look sleek and full, we assume thanks to a solid brow gel, like Milk’s Kush Fibre Brow Gel. Theses ladies are major squad—and brow—goals.
