TORONTO FASHION WEEK: The Best Hair

Drawing inspiration from 1960s Beatniks, Gothic Androgyny, Symmetry in Nature and more, here’s a roundup of the best runway hair from World Mastercard FSHN WK – and how you can get the looks yourself.

THE LOW PONYTAIL

Lucian Matis’s show featured the low ponytail on the majority of his models. The hair was slicked back, with clean lines, while the ponytail was textured and wavy. Use a wide barrel curling iron with hairspray, (Aveda’s Air Control would work nicely) and rough it up after. It’s pretty romantic and totally wearable for summer. Love it!

Joe Fresh also had their models sport the low ponytail on the runway. Theirs had a lot more of a 1960’s vibe, with lots of height through the top crown area.

Get your tail combs out ladies; backcombing is required for this look. I would finish this look off with liquid liner and tons of mascara.

DRAMATIC PART / SLEEK STRAIGHT HAIR

We saw the heavily side-parted sleek hair at Holt Renfrew Presents: Judith & Charles.

Pink Tartan featured the sleek look with a centre part and a more androgynous feel to it.

Bust out your flatiron and shine products, because you’re going to need it to complete this look. Aveda’s Brilliant Emollient Serum would be perfect to add tons of shine.

BRAIDED HEADBANDS

Braided headbands made an appearance on the runways. Especially, at the Chloe Comme Parris show. Their braided headband was rougher and more textured than ones from previous runway seasons. Perfect for a hot Summer day.

Which one of these Fashion Week hair trends would you wear?
