Trend To Try: Gown and Sneakers

The recent Chanel couture show has us wondering: is it finally time to try your everyday shoes with fancy dresses? KStew was a purveyor for the trend in the past couple of years, but TBH we have never been 100% on board. With resurgence of sneaker culture in the last few years, we have more choices than ever and maybe there are some gowns and sneakers we wouldn’t mind wearing together. Here’s how to rock those sneakers with sequins!

Zuhair Murad + Jordans

White and gold is a sure-fire way to look fancy (huh). You can’t get these OVO Jordans yet, but when I finally get my hand on them through eBay (for quadruple the retail price) I’m ready to pair them with the ~classiest maxi in my closet.

Atelier Versace + Common Projects

This sleek, all-black Versace look is elevated by that nonchalant infinity scarf resting on the model’s head. You’d need an equally understated sneaker, sans laces, like this snake embossed slip-on.

Common Projects, $432.06

Valentino + Vans

Hahaha…dat lion doe.

Vans, $65

Giambattista Valli + Adidas

This is some next level matching going on. The blue lining in these Adidas are subtle just enough to match this dress. The same goes for the gold logo on the tongue and that cool-looking gold bangle.

Adidas, $130.00

Maison Martin Margiela + Converse

I’m pretty sure only a tried and true classic like white Chucks could stand up to a gown like this. (By this, I mean overly and heavily embellished.) They say Chucks go with everything and in this case “they” are correct!

Converse, $50

Ulyana Sergeenko + Opening Ceremony

Jewel tones on jewel tones on jewel tones means it’s impossible to clash right? I don’t wear colour so I wouldn’t know. I also like the idea of all these ~luxe textures like silk paired with leather and velvet.

Opening Ceremony, $299.95

Elie Saab + MM6

This outfit would make you look like the Tooth Fairy on the run. That’s a pretty cool look.

MM6, $450
