Fanny packs are often associated with lost tourists (e.g. elderly couple from Florida with matching visors) and middle-aged men wanting to keep their wallet away from their booty. Recently, Matthew McConaughey was spotted wearing a fanny pack at the Red Sox game – and when asked about the fanny pack, he adamantly defended it: practicality trumps fashion, especially when you’ve got a lot of random stuff you don’t want to keep in your butt pockets. McConaughey is not the only one to rock the fanny pack… the Rock (lol), Jason Batemen, and Kanye are members of the fanny pack gang. Is the FP trying to make a comeback? Probably. Should it be a thing? Probably not. Here are a few of the best celeb renditions of fanny packs…

Leo lives in the lap of luxury — hanging out on yachts with beautiful women, poppin’ champagne for a morning mimosa, and going to after parties with Oprah. The one thing that brings him down 2 earth is the fanny pack. Look at him! Stars are like us… except most of us don’t wear FPs.
I feel like Kanye would be the one to push the fanny pack concept to everyone he meets… “Wear these. I keep everything in here, including NW baby bottle.” Oh, but the FP can only be leather, Louis Vuitton, or fur.
His look in this photo is very relevant to the “normcore” trend (ugh). Jason looks youthful and earnest… and I mean we’ve all made *questionable* fashion choices.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson
This is probably the best thing to happen to the internet and looks like an early dating ad… “Date me and my fanny pack.” I like this side of the Rock, before his WWE (WWF?) days. He looks like a very gentle human being who enjoys long walks on the beach and someone who will hold his hand when cries to that scene in The Ghost.
Stop trying to make fanny packs happen…
